Its that time again...New Year's Resolutions!
Okay...we all seem to have survived the holidays...blah...blah. Now it is time to fes up - who is going to make a list of resolutions this year? (You know you are, so you might as well admit it!)
News media polls tells us that the top ten resolutions include:
1. Spending more time with friends & family 2. Getting super fit 3. Quitting smoking 4. Loosing weight 5. Enjoying life more 6. Quitting drinking 7. Learning a new skill 8. Helping others & donating to charity 9. Getting organized 10. And the ever popular getting out of debt (Something govenments worldwide need to heed.)
I am sure I make and break a half dozen resolutions annually, some of which of course are on that fairly mundane list. (Loosing weight, getting organized, learning a new skill, blah, blah, blah.) Others are more the poke I needed to move me in directions of things I should be doing but somehow never seem to accomplish. (100 new drawings, get a new tattoo, fix my fav leather jacket, etc)
So lets hear them! What have you got? What goes on your list this year? I am hoping for some interesting comments here. Given the diversity of this group we should be far from mundane and our lists entertaining.

Re: Its that time again...New Year's Resolutions!
I have never done "new years resolutions", I am just glad I have made it through another year. but this is an interesting thought about the future. I would have to say that foremost I would like to remain healthy. The last couple years, I have developed joint arthritis and degeneration requiring orthoscopic knee surgery on both legs. I know if I can keep what health I now have, I can continue to work and value the quality of life.
The only other thing is I hope to move onto some land that a friend has bought outside the city I live in. It is about 7 acres and he wants me to be a caretaker for it and take care of security on it. My friend hopes to hold music and food events on the land in a year and has offered to allow me to park a trailer on it for free. I just have to pay my own utilities. I expect to be able to do this about April this coming year. I have wanted to get out of the city for some time, and now here is my chance. So next year will hopefully bring some good change...

My goals for this year are: 1. Yep, want to lose some more kilos! 2. Get a job that I love! (Or that pays me shit loads of cash!) 3. I'd like to get to Figi for a few days this year... 4. And of course optimise my health and fitness! 5. And get a book published!

Deb - goal #5 "And get a book published!" intrigues me. I did not know you wrote. Do tell.
Damien - adding my voice here to the congrats on finding a way out of the big city. I know that you have been seeking to do that for years. I hope that all works well for you that way in the upcoming year.

Re: Its that time again...New Year's Resolutions!
Well, I've always liked writing... I grew up in the country and semi-isolated and sometimes would write all weekend. I got back to it a couple of years ago. I don't know much about the industry so figure I would approach Mills & Boone first because they at least have a system set up and are reputable. I completed one book and it was rejected, as was the second. I am not down-hearted though, because although I hoped, I never really expected to have my first attempts published, and I learnt so much! I personally think my natural style is a little too dark and hardcore for Mills & Boone anyway, although they do seem to be moving with the times... I believe Canada even has a Nocturne line! I have 105thousand words completed in a novel I was writing before the sweet romances, so now that I have finished college and Christmas is over I have time to get back to it. Yes it has Vampires! It is passionate and a bit maccarbe... It is my style! I want to be a successful writer more than anything... It is how I want to travel and make my life! I love Tourism, but I chose it because it is something normal that I can rest on until my real interests bloom. I need an income now! My passions are writing and alternative things... Like I have an interest in energies and house cleansing/exorcising (of negativity), but this is not something that will put food in my son's belly! I need to be practical while realising my dreams.

Lost Darkkin, I think as we get older we have to adjust our eatting habits... I know natural foods work well for me, and meat is natural! I actually got a Coke belly over Christmas which hopefully should disappear over the next week - too many bloody cans of Coke! (My Mum has been staying and she loves her Coke!)
