Post Morning Rituals...
Morning sucks!

I've decided that for the amount of spare hours I have each day, I am not achieving enough, so I've decided to reshape my schedule and get up earlier so I can write first thing in the morning while my head is clear...

So I'm sitting here pouting after resisting the urge to go back to sleep, and then resisting the urge to throw myself on the floor and start kicking and screaming! The thing is, I don't have trouble getting up when I have a legitament reason to, but given a choice, slumber is lovely morning option!

I will just finish my coffee, and then put on a load of washing while my second cup is brewing... Tell, me... What is your morning ritual? How do you greet the day and at what time?

Busted - I am kind of a creature of habit.

I get up around 5:30AM (w/o an alarm). Make me self a bit o coffee then relax & read my innerwebs news / emails for a bit. (That includes checking this site for any messages.) After 30-40 minutes or so I take a short (20-30 min) nap when I get up the second time around 6:45-7, I jump into the day full force...high protein breakfast with my 2nd cuppa & feed Mr. Cat. I break for lunch sometime around 1:30-2PM; eat a light late dinner around 7-8PM & head out to the gym (or a meeting) for 3-4 hours. When I get back I feed Mr. Cat, & relax with short glass of mead or wine & again catch up on reading the innerwebs before crashing around 1:30-2AM. Heck occasionally I even grab a movie to watch.

Yup, I only sleep naturally around 3-5 hours a day - I've always been that way. It used to drive my parents & my ex nuts - oh well. I am not a high energy person, but I am someone that cycles energy well enough that I can keep going & going, as long as there is an energy source that I can tap. About once every two weeks I do one of my 45-50 hours "days", just to knock things out I want to get done. On that I can kind of feel old age creeping in. I am down to 45-50 hours and actually need 6-8 hours to recoup afterwards. Blah. It used to be that I could go about 60-62 hours before needing to crash & recover in 3-4. <sigh> But I guess I need to face it, I am soooo no longer in my 30's. :-\

Wow, we really are all so different... Meditation in the morning is a great idea, Lost Darkkin - it must really benefit the way you face the day... I'mn afraid if I tried it in the morning I would just use it as an excuse to catch some zzzzs.

My goodness, La, you are disciplined! As far as recovering goes, I have noticed that it was taking longer for me to recover after throwing parties... But your schedule and pattern is amazing!

I greet the morning with a grumble and a curse. I am not a morning person at all but I claw my way through it. Get my son up, give his medicine, check the cats food and water followed by the chipmunk and followed by being a zombie for about four hours.

Post Re: Morning Rituals...
My morning starts at 6 am, prayers, laying tefilin(sort of leather boxes and straps thing; religious NOT kinky hahah) and then washing up and eating.
My whole day pretty much revolves around my religious tasks and starts the moment I open my eyes with being thankful that my soul is in my body again and I can interact with the physical world around me.

For some this might sound absolutely horrible but it's perfectly fine with me as I always was fond of schedules. Even back in my rebel days I had a schedule. I never oversleep and always wake up around 6am even if I went to bed late though with my physical ails I can crash hard after a few days if I can't get more than seven hours of sleep. I prefer or rather NEED eight.

I tend to feel lost when nothing is planned in advance and the rituals I have to do really help me connect to something spiritual and sets the mood for that day. It makes me feel that there is so much more than just eat, sleep and repeat. It's a bit strange in that I crave patterns yet patterns can also make me feel very disconnected as a human being. I need the "spiritual pattern" too.

Wake up, get the wife off to work.

Go back to sleep for an hour or two.

Wake up and start work myself (own business at home).

Take occasional break to goof off with my 2 cats.

Pretty boring. I really need to replace my "second sleep" (as I call it) with working out again. I had an injury that stopped workouts for a while and I grew a tad lazy in that respect.
